What is an e-chip or Touchsync, and what value does it provide?  Is the e-chip still available?

Sales/Tech Support personnel - questions about tool specifications/features

Answer

The E-Chip was an inventory control device. Each tool would have a chip and the customer would purchase a scanner and software to keep track of all the tools in a plant. The idea never really gained favor, and has been discontinued.
